A first-generation, low-income student from Queens, NYC who built a STEM mentorship program for orphanage students in Nairobi from nothing β no funding, no institution, no permission. Just a phone, WhatsApp, and a refusal to walk away from kids who needed someone to show up.
My Story
Hi everyone! My name is Syed Rahman. I am going to City College in NYC next year. First off it is a huge honor to be teaching the Global Hope Centre's Program. My goal is to teach you and allow you to experience the endless engineering principles behind biking.
What inspired me to start this is my love to help others. I used to be part of a bike organization where I helped mentor Kenyan students about biking. Mr Moses from Children's Garden Kenyan Orphanage and the Global Hope Center introduced me to this community. I hope I can put my teaching skills to the test!
I am a published poet β author of Through the Poet's Eye β and a mechanical engineering student who believes the best solutions come from genuinely understanding the people you serve. Engineering is not just equations. It is people.
